Location:

On Sukhumvit Rd 1.5kms north of the Naval Ordnance Base (กรมสรรพาวุธทหารเรือ), Sattahip entrance junction.

OK, so this isn't really Ban Chang, but a nice place to visit if you are on your way to Pattaya.

Description:

This is a wonder cafe cum shop decorated in a Hollywood memorabilia setting. It doesn't have great deal in the way of very old blockbuster items, but more in line with recent movies. There is a small amount of Thai movie items.

Outside you are greeted by statues of Elvis and Marilyn Munroe. Keep an eye out for the Hulk on the balcony.

Very spacious. Tables, sofas and chairs are very comfortable. Bit of a mix n match, but comes together well.

One of the most interesting, for me was the old Sony reel to reel tape player. Sitting right beside a laptop. Ha Ha.

The prices are a little more than average. Especially the muffins. I suppose you pay for the added visual experience.

The check bin is brought to you in an old video tape case. A nice touch keeping with the theme.

Food:

The Iced Mocha just average.

Muffins super delicious. Served warm. They had a sauce inside that surprises you as you dig deep.

The chicken nuggets very tasty. You could taste the real chicken instead of the batter.

Service:

Order taken promptly and delivered in a reasonable time-frame.

Staff:

Friendly. Served with a smile.

Entertainment:

Many movie related decorations to look at while waiting for your order.

There is a photo opportunity. A staged area for the movie Titanic. Take your partner to reenact the famous moment.

Parking:

Off street at front of building.

Hours:

Closed Mondays.

Siladol Coffee and Garden

Location:

On Sukhumvit Rd left hand side as going towards Rayong. 500 metres past the railway line bridge.

Description:

What a wonderful little find this place is. It was a recommendation from our friends at Phala Pier Cafe and Bar.

The main area is a garden ornament shop. It sells many concrete statues, waterfalls and wall decoration fixtures. Very large and beautifully laded out. Many ideas for your home and garden. To one side is a wooden furniture area selling old Thai style pieces. Not sure if they are antique, but looked lovely and well worth checking if you are interested in these.

There is a huge fish pond which I found most interesting. It's design and layout gave me some ideas on how I would like mine to look. Asking the owner and staff I discovered that they had constructed it themselves using information from YouTube. I'll have to check it out.

Food:

We only had 2 dishes. A Club Sandwich and the Green Curry Spaghetti.

The sandwich was very traditional with crisps. Many places in Thailand will serve with fires. Tasty and fresh.

The spaghetti was delicious. I have never had this before, but Prae says it was the best she had ever tried.

Mocca coffee was just average, but the latte was very good. Not too milky.

Prices are reasonable.

Service:

It wasn't busy when we arrived. The staff rushed to ensure our orders were taken as soon as we were seated.

While waiting, we checked out the decor and the items that were on just about every level location. The walls covered with clocks etc. All for sale. (Except an old style radio I would have liked to buy.)

Parking:

Off street parking at front. Also small 3 car and motor bike parking inside near side entrance.

Hours:

8am to 5pm daily.
Staff told us that they stay open later on weekends. Not sure when.

Location:

On Thetsaban 34. Just down from major intersection.

Description:

Way can I say. It's a 7-11. What I would call a medium sized shop.

Services:

Usual bill paying services.
The staff don't like you paying bills. The bar code scanner never seems to work, and staff have to type in the long numbers. They show their dislike openly.

Coffee counter. (I haven't partaken. Don't normally like 7-11 coffee)

3 ATM located outside.
  • Krungthai Bank - KTB
  • Kasikorn Bank
  • Siam Commercial Bank - SCB

Parking:

Very congested at peak times. Crazy people parking all over.

Has spots for only about 8 cars. Some in front, and more via side street.
Motor bike parking available.

24 hours a day.

Location:

On Thetsaban 34 about 250 metres after the railway line as you go towards the beach.

Description:

Was really looking forward to going here. Looked nice and interesting every time we drove passed. The decor is open with Thai style huts along one wall. The remainder of seating is tables and chairs. A stage against the back wall adjacent the bar. Lighting and ambiance was good.

First visit was a disappointment. Food way below average.

Thought we would give it another try. Food was even worse. Cold with some still frozen in centre. Others not cooked and uneatable. Unacceptable long waiting time for food to come.

Shame to say, but won't be eating here again.

Some friends advised this experience was similar to theirs. They suggested to just come to drink and play pool.

Food:

Thai and western food available.

All prices for food and drinks are average.

Service:

Drink order taken promptly. Usual long waiting time for food to come.

Staff:

Waiting staff friendly and talkative.

Chief took offense at some suggestions about the food. Ended up just being rude.

Entertainment:

Live music. Not sure of when

Parking:

Small area for off street parking right in front. Vacant land next door can accommodate a few cars.

Hours:

11am to Midnight every day.
