Location:

On Sukhumvit Rd 1.5kms north of the Naval Ordnance Base (กรมสรรพาวุธทหารเรือ), Sattahip entrance junction.

OK, so this isn't really Ban Chang, but a nice place to visit if you are on your way to Pattaya.

Description:

This is a wonder cafe cum shop decorated in a Hollywood memorabilia setting. It doesn't have great deal in the way of very old blockbuster items, but more in line with recent movies. There is a small amount of Thai movie items.

Outside you are greeted by statues of Elvis and Marilyn Munroe. Keep an eye out for the Hulk on the balcony.

Very spacious. Tables, sofas and chairs are very comfortable. Bit of a mix n match, but comes together well.

One of the most interesting, for me was the old Sony reel to reel tape player. Sitting right beside a laptop. Ha Ha.

The prices are a little more than average. Especially the muffins. I suppose you pay for the added visual experience.

The check bin is brought to you in an old video tape case. A nice touch keeping with the theme.

Food:

The Iced Mocha just average.

Muffins super delicious. Served warm. They had a sauce inside that surprises you as you dig deep.

The chicken nuggets very tasty. You could taste the real chicken instead of the batter.

Service:

Order taken promptly and delivered in a reasonable time-frame.

Staff:

Friendly. Served with a smile.

Entertainment:

Many movie related decorations to look at while waiting for your order.

There is a photo opportunity. A staged area for the movie Titanic. Take your partner to reenact the famous moment.

Parking:

Off street at front of building.

Location:

Nice place in Phla Village.

Description:

Decor bit of a mix of Italian and outdoor courtyard. Has vintage poster / painting on walls. You know, Coke and Pepsi stuff. As I said, a bit of a mix.

Love the brick walls. Real stuff and done correctly. The owner told us it took her a while to explain and show the Thai brick layer what she wanted and then even longer for him to do it. But it was really worth it.

Food:

Food has been all very, very good and delicious. Served hot and everyone's meals almost come at the same time.

They have a very good hot English Breakfast for 150 baht.

Bar, again reasonable prices. Wine wine by the glass in nothing to phone home about, but drinkable and a good price.

Club Sandwich
Spaghetti Carbonara
Spaghetti Keemao with Seafood
Chicken Cordon Blue

Service:

Service is always with a smile. Only a little English spoken, but their enthusiasm makes up for it. Eager to please.

Staff:

Owner and staff very friendly.

Entertainment:

TV with English movies. YouTube music.

Parking:

Only street parking.

Location:

I wish I knew what this road is called. Google Maps only has the Thai version. Sorry.

Check the GPS or Google Maps below.
This is view from the road.

Description:

This is our favorite cafe in the area.

The decor is a modern lounge style. Numerous sofas placed among small tables. In the adjoining room more places to sit and enjoy. This area has some sport decorations, but they don't spoil the ambience.

Popular with both Thai and farang. Although the staff don't use English much, it is still easy to order using the menu pictures. You can usually work out what you want.

Sunday seems to be the busiest day. Many of the weekend tourists come in for food and coffee. It also has a clientele from the local Naval Base and workers from Utapao Airport.

Outside Eating
Just in the next room.
Cute Decorations

Food:

All prices for food and drinks are reasonable.

Service:

What can I say. I think my other comments speak for themselves.

Staff:

The thing that keeps us coming  back is the staff. So friendly. Always welcome us with a smile and sawa dii kaaaaaaa.

The owners, a wife, Khun Tuu, and husband couple, are super nice. They have some restaurant experience in the UK and are most modern in their way of service and setting up the Cafe.

They also have other business interests in the area. Air-conditioning is one. I haven't used their services for this, but intend to soon with the installation of units in our house. (I'll let you know when and how that goes.)

Entertainment:

NIL.

Parking:

Only street parking or, if you don't mind walking, park in the local fresh market area.

Hours:

They keep adjusting them. Latest I know is 0800 - 1800 If a problem, call them first.

Location:

Right on the beach adjacent Phala Pier. Spectacular view of Gulf of Thailand. To the north you can see Koh Same San.

At certain times of the year the sunsets are the best.

Sunset looking toward Koh Same San in the distance.

Description:

This is a great little Restaurant, cafe / bar. It's a bit hard to find, but your perseverance will pay off. It's family orientated, so we take our kids more often than not. The owners and staff really enjoy the kids running around on the beach and enjoying themselves. Many of the customers are from the local area.

View from the beach. Yep, that's me.

Food:

What can I say, the food is GREAT! Mum in the kitchen is superb chief. There are Thai and Western type styles available. One of the super secrets is the "Special Hamburger". It's not even on the Menu. The staff are considering placing it there when the Menu is up for review in a few months. My vote will go for it.

All prices for food and drinks are reasonable.

Service:

Most times the service is very good, but food orders can be a bit slow when busy.

Staff:

The staff are very welcoming and Khun Tom behind the bar is so funny. He jokes around and makes you feel like his closest friend. He is also the main attraction in the Friday night fire show.

Entertainment:

Every Friday night fire show. Very popular. You might need to make bookings.

Pool table 20 baht per game. You can always find someone to play.

Parking:

Street parking can be a problem. You can always park on the pier. It is a bit dark and narrow, but we manage.
