Right on the beach adjacent Phala Pier. Spectacular view of Gulf of Thailand. To the north you can see Koh Same San.

At certain times of the year the sunsets are the best.

Description:

This is a great little Restaurant, cafe / bar. It's a bit hard to find, but your perseverance will pay off. It's family orientated, so we take our kids more often than not. The owners and staff really enjoy the kids running around on the beach and enjoying themselves. Many of the customers are from the local area.

Food:

What can I say, the food is GREAT! Mum in the kitchen is superb chief. There are Thai and Western type styles available. One of the super secrets is the "Special Hamburger". It's not even on the Menu. The staff are considering placing it there when the Menu is up for review in a few months. My vote will go for it.

All prices for food and drinks are reasonable.

Service:

Most times the service is very good, but food orders can be a bit slow when busy.

Staff:

The staff are very welcoming and Khun Tom behind the bar is so funny. He jokes around and makes you feel like his closest friend. He is also the main attraction in the Friday night fire show. 

Entertainment:

Every Friday night fire show. Very popular. You might need to make bookings.

Pool table 20 baht per game. You can always find someone to play.

Parking:

Street parking can be a problem. You can always park on the pier. It is a bit dark and narrow, but we manage.

Not too sure of the name of the road. Google Maps only shows the Thai script for it. I'm positive you will be able to find it by checking the embedded Google Map below.

Description:

I believe that's the name of the shop. Google Translate tells me so.

I have had purchase project materials and some tools from here on two occasions, both times a pleasant experience. The metal selection is basic. Reasonable amount of general hand tools and hardware available, but nothing in electric hand tool department.

The staff are eager to please and helpful.

There is a young lady who rushes out of the office when a farang turns up. Her English is very good. She lived in Australia for 1 year. Very friendly.

First Post

Hi all,

This is my first post on our new blog, "Friends of Ban Chang".

My family decided to call Ban Chang home after a relatively short period. We are presently getting "our" home built, which I will go into further details of that in a future blog.

I started this blog to collect and share services, shops and any type of resource that I have found to be good, bad, or just interesting. The blog will evolve over time, and with your help it could grow into a useful data mine for our vibrant and growing community.
